Kalinga State University is first SUC deputized for ETEEAP in Cordillera Region

Marking a revolutionary step for higher education in the Cordillera Region, Kalinga State University is the first state university (SUC) to be deputized for the Expanded Tertiary Education, Equivalency, and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP).

Such feat is confirmed by Dr. Patricio Dinamling, Education Program Supervisor-CHED Cordillera.

A formal communication dated December 28, 2023 informed the approval of the application of KSU for government authority (GA) to offer BA History and BA Political Science via ETEEAP as per Commission en Banc Resolution No. 730-2023.

The university has undergone a technical panel visit with the team headed by the late Dr. Gilbert Arce, former President of Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College, representatives from the CHED Central Office and Dr. Mariano Marchan, Jr. representing CHED Cordillera last March 7, 2023 after its submission of relevant documents in 2022.

KSU's Dagupan Campus, at the forefront of this educational revolution, is now set to offer two dynamic programs under the ETEEAP umbrella – Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Bachelor of Arts in History.

According to Dr. Pinky Gas-ib, the ODETEIL Director, this important accomplishment represents a big step forward in offering flexible and easily available educational options to people who choose to pursue higher education in other ways.

She also added that with a focus on working professionals, non-traditional students, and individuals with significant life experience who want to pursue a bachelor's degree, ETEEAP is made to meet their needs.

Meanwhile, Dr. Eduardo Bagtang, the University President, emphasized that Kalinga State University's pioneering role in ETEEAP not only underscores its commitment to academic excellence but also positions the institution as a catalyst for educational innovation in the Cordillera Region.

The ETEEAP is a comprehensive tertiary educational assessment program that identifies, certifies, and assigns equivalencies to information, skills, attitudes, and values that people have acquired via pertinent employment. It is carried out by higher education institutions deputized to confer the relevant college degree.

Gas-ib noted that those who would like to avail of the offering may visit the KSU-Office of Distance Education, Transnational Education and International Linkages for assessment and other details.

She extends warm gratitude and congratulations to the KSU-ETEEAP team which she led: Dr. Ruth Ladwingon, Dr. Jessie Sannadan, Dr. Robert Rodolfo and the faculty of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences- BA History Program chaired by Ms Carolyn Colangao, BA Political Science program then chaired by Mr. Rodolfo Tucay, and Ronald Bulwayan, the former CLASS Dean.
