In its continuous effort to serve the community, the Kalinga State University College of Law conducted a legal outreach program on March 10, 2024, at 1 PM at the Bantay Barangay Hall, Tabuk City, Kalinga.
This initiative is part of the College’s Legal Community Outreach Program, which aims to extend vital legal services and raise legal awareness among the residents of Kalinga. The outreach featured a series of legal lectures, covering key issues affecting the community. Law student practitioners presented essential information on three important laws. Nova Grail S. Naganag discussed the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act (RA 9262), providing insights on the rights and protections afforded to victims of domestic violence. Lovely Mikee D. Baliling led a session on the Bawal Bastos Law (RA 11313), a law that addresses gender-based sexual harassment in public spaces, workplaces, and online platforms. Rajkumari P. Caldingon presented on the Solo Parent Act (RA 11861), highlighting the benefits and rights available to solo parents.
In addition to the lectures, the outreach included legal consultation sessions, notary services, and assistance in preparing legal documents. Residents had the opportunity to seek free advice and support from law students and practitioners, ensuring access to critical legal assistance without the barriers of cost. The KSU College of Law's Legal Community Outreach Program reflects its commitment to fostering legal literacy and supporting marginalized members of the community. By addressing topics that are both relevant and impactful, the program hopes to empower residents with the knowledge needed to protect their rights and route legal challenges confidently.
