Kalinga State University Marks 32nd Founding Anniversary and 9th Charter Day

Kalinga State University commenced its three-day celebration of its 32nd Founding Anniversary and 9th Charter Day yesterday, January 22, 2025, with a Thanksgiving Mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Romeo Dawaton.

Under the theme, "Celebrating Our Heritage: Igniting Innovation for a Sustainable Future," the event saw participation from university officials, faculty, staff, students, stakeholders, and partner agencies, highlighting the collaborative spirit that underpins KSU’s vision and mission.

Following the mass, a ceremonial blessing of two significant infrastructure projects was held — the Technology and Innovation Center and the Ladies Dormitory. The Technology and Innovation Center was initiated during the tenure of former university president Dr. Eduardo T. Bagtang. The completion of this center was made possible through the support of partner agencies, including the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). This center is poised to become a pivotal incubation hub for research and innovation, facilitating the development of groundbreaking products.

Karl Ian Martinez of DOST-Kalinga articulated the center's purpose, describing it as a one-stop shop for researchers, students, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). He emphasized that the facility would provide essential resources for ideation, design thinking, and mentorship, guiding concepts through the transformation into viable start-ups. The center will also host various research activities focused on the enhancement and discovery of innovative products.

The Ladies Dormitory, that will be managed by Ms. Geraldine Baluyan, is now accepting occupants with a very minimal fee.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Marilou Adora, Vice President for Academics and Student Development, reflected on KSU’s significant achievements over the years, reaffirming the institution's commitment to excellence in education, innovation, and community service in alignment with this year’s theme.

University President Dr. Joy Grace P. Doctor in her inspirational message, recognized the unwavering support of partner agencies present during the celebration. She underscored that the event embodies not only individual triumphs but also the collective endeavors of the entire university community.

“Congratulations to our board and bar passers. You are now licensed professionals ready to make a positive impact on the world,” Dr. Doctor stated. She expressed pride in their achievements, which serve as a testament to the high-quality education provided at KSU.

Dr. Doctor urged the university community to recognize the significance of continuous learning, emphasizing education as a lifelong journey. She encouraged all members to maintain connections, share experiences, and uplift future generations.

Furthermore, she acknowledged the vital role of stakeholder partnerships in preparing students for successful and fulfilling futures. “We invite you to continue your involvement in the KSU community as we strive to achieve our university’s vision, mission, goals, and objectives.”

The opening program concluded with the awarding of certificates to board and bar passers, as well as recognitions for partner agencies, celebrating the collaborations that enrich KSU.
