The Office of the Student Development Services and Placement Services, together with its different units--Guidance and Counseling Services, Health Services, Student Publication and student leaders extends valuable services by conducting their continuing extension program at Barangay Nambucayan, Tabuk City on February 08.
Recognizing the importance of community engagement, KSU takes proactive steps to extend its services to the Nambucayan community, with a particular focus on the Barangay officials, Pao Elementary School and Nambucayan National High School. By providing valuable resources and support, KSU aims to contribute to the holistic development of the community.
The lectures are open to community members ensuring inclusivity and accessibility. KSU believes that by equipping individuals with knowledge and skills, the community will be better equipped to face challenges and make informed decisions that positively impact their lives.
The extension service encompasses a wide array of topics. One of the key topics given by the The Earthline Adviser, Ms. Marie Joy Garming and Staff focuses on "Behind Truth Information: Determining Truth from false Information" emphasizing media literacy, critical thinking, and the ability to discern false information from the truth. Participants are provided with valuable insights and practical strategies to navigate the media as they go through their schooling, helping them develop the skills needed to evaluate sources, identify biases, and make informed judgments.
Another important aspect of the lecture series is centered around "Basic Nutrition and Proper Hygiene" lead by Dr. Maria Linda Gavino and the university nurse, Mr. Silverio Cammagay. Participants also learned about the importance of essential nutrients, and the impact of sanitation on overall health and well-being of the student.
Another topic discussed by the Supreme Student Council Bulanao Campus (SSC-BC) student leaders, Ms. Rona Mae Mayocyoc and Ms. Jonalyn Saguilot focuses on Values formation through Leadership. Participants are guided on how to develop strong ethical values and self awareness and how to become competent. They were also given different team building games which taught them on how to work collaboratively to achieve one goal. The lectures explore social responsibility as leader in fostering positive change within oneself and the community.
The different lectures provided are tailored to the needs and interests of the target audience, ensuring that participants receive relevant and practical information. The interactive nature of the lectures encourages active participation, enabling community leaders and students to engage in meaningful discussions, ask questions, and share experiences.
The partnership between KSU and Nambucayan aims to foster growth and development to the student and the community, positively impacting the lives of the students promoting a collaborative approach to yhe progress of students.
Through these initiatives, KSU strives to create a inclusive community where individuals have access to essential services, opportunities for growth, and a better quality of life.
As KSU continues to extend its valuable services to Nambucayan, the university reaffirms its commitment to creating meaningful and lasting change that does not only limited to its four corners but extends to its partner schools who are in need of its services.
