To uphold the cleanliness and environmental responsibility of Kalinga State University, the General Services Office (GSO), under the leadership of Ms. Sharmaine Codiam, has spearheaded the waste management and segregation program across all university campuses. This initiative involves the systematic sorting of university waste materials prior to collection by the city’s waste management team, ensuring that proper protocols are observed to maintain campus hygiene and sustainability.
Waste management and segregation are essential practices for educational institutions like KSU, contributing significantly to environmental preservation, resource conservation, and campus health. By categorizing waste into recyclable, compostable, and non-recyclable items, the university minimizes waste sent to landfills, reduces environmental impact, and promotes a culture of ecological awareness. The GSO’s initiative aligns with KSU’s commitment to responsible stewardship and serves as a practical learning experience for faculty, staff, and students in environmental responsibility.
The waste management program is consistently observed across KSU’s three campuses and encourages participation from the entire university community, fostering a shared responsibility for a cleaner, healthier campus environment. Through this collective effort, KSU sets a model for sustainable practices, encouraging faculty, staff, and students to be active contributors to environmental well-being and community health.
