KSU- Information Office sustains partnership with PIA-Kalinga: Bringing government information and development programs closer to the public.

The Philippine Information Agency-Kalinga recently organized the Ikalinga Network of Information Officers and Workers (IKNOW) which composed of all Information Officers of the different local government units and line agencies in Kalinga.

This association of information officers is set to revitalize the communicators network in Kalinga being the information arm of the government. As an association, it is focused on promoting government programs, particularly the president’s activities, as well as partners in disseminating beneficial information to intended audience or stakeholders.

It is recalled that EO no. 02 was signed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on June 30, 2022, abolishing the PCOO by which PIA became under the direct supervision of the office of the president, under which are the Bureau of communication services, freedom of information and good governance office.

During the first meeting on November 17, 2022 at the Golden Fields Hotel, the association elected its first set of officers where yours truly was unanimously elected as the secretary. Said meeting was presided by Helen Reyes Tibaldo, the Regional Director for PIA-CAR.

As the only state university in Kalinga representing the academe, we will facilitate the information needs of the public on the programs of the Higher Education Institution (HEI) on quality education, updates of course offerings, scholarships, and other educational opportunities for students.

Since I assumed full responsibility in the office of the university information, we have maintained the dissemination of information in our four main areas (Instruction, Research, Extension and Production) using the tri-media and now the association is of big help for KSU to expand the information dissemination through this partnership with all the line agencies.

Meanwhile, during our meeting at the Mountaineers Golf Driving Range, MSA Park, Hon. Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang expressed his full support, together with the provincial governor and city mayor to the association. “The office of the Congressman, Governor and the City Mayor are working together to give the most passionate services where we need you to help in reaching out for development as we continue to develop harmonious relationship.” Mangaoang added.

Mangaoang reminded the information officers to focus on the development of the province, observe due process, bringing about the right information and to manage and eradicate the spread of fake information on social media.
