KSU is a mother and childcare-friendly community

Providing equitable access to medical health services within the university apart from the usual services provided by the university clinic, The College of Health and Natural Sciences (CNHS) headed by Dr. Christina L. Ammakiw took the opportunity to inform the public through radio guesting at the university’s online radio streaming via Facebook live. Ms. Teodifel S. Lao-aten, the head of the Birthing Clinic, is with her. Highlights of their discussion are the programs offered under the College of Health and Natural Sciences (CNHS) namely, Bachelor of Science in Midwifery, Diploma in Midwifery, Bachelor of Science in Biology, and Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
The dean highly emphasizes the establishment of the Birthing Clinic facility at the 1st floor entrance of the College of Health and Natural Sciences (CNHS) building. As discussed by the head of the birthing clinic, services offered are not limited to clients (students, faculty, guests/visitors) within the university but are also open to the public. The establishment of the said facility is not only to prepare students for their actual careers, but it also aims to focus on giving importance to mothers and childcare. The established birthing clinic has complete amenities and resources for safe prenatal check-ups, and actual delivery for pregnant women.
On the other hand, a lactating room was likewise included as one separate room in the birthing facility aside from other designated lactating rooms accessible for lactating mothers within the KSU community and to other guests. This facility has likewise been given priority to provide privacy for mothers who need to breastfeed.
