KSU, OFFICE OF THE CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT SPEARHEAD THE FIRST KALINGA BODONG STUDENT SUMMIT: 6 HEIs actively participated in all the activities.

With the theme, BODONG DA UMMUNUNA, LUMIN-AWAAN DA GINAKKA AT DE UTUP DE PADDA”, this student bodong summit defines who an ikalinga is and that for students to see, witness and understand what bodong is and inculcate the indigenous cultural practices in their hearts and minds.

Honorable Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang as the Chairman together with Dr. Eduardo T. Bagtang, Co-Chairman, successfully launched this first ever Kalinga Bodong Student Summit today at the Kalinga Sports Complex.

In his welcome remarks, Dr. Eduardo T. Bagtang, Kalinga State University President said that we are making history since this is the first student bodong summit being conducted in the province and this is something to be proud of where the six (6) Higher Education Institutions here in Kalinga were able to make it stand.

Bagtang added that said Summit was made through Provincial Order 2016-29, the reason for the province to celebrate bodong festival and so he moved for a resolution through the provincial IPMR Hon. Michael Sugguiyao to be acted by the Sanggunian Panlalawigan, to declare February 8 as the Official Kalinga Bodong Student Summit to be celebrated every year.

Meanwhile, Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang expressed his full support to the proposal as he said that we should put on the spotlight of the bodong system. “In your shoulders, will be laid your responsibility”, he added, referring to the students.

The activity was participated by the six higher education institution including Kalinga State University, St Tonis College Inc., Saint Louis College of Bulanao, C/ACT, KCST and ISAP who portrayed the process of Bodong, Salidummay and Uggayam competition.

Mangaoang and Bagtang expressed their gratitude to all who extended their support that made the activity a success.

Present during the activity were Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang, KSU president, Dr. Eduardo T. Bagtang, former Tinglayan Mayor, Johnny Maymaya, IPMR Vicente Gomowang, Fernando Cosidon, Romulo Galnawan from DepEd, Placido Alsiyang Jr.,other tribal leaders, faculty and students.

The afternoon session highlighted the search for Mr. and Ms. Ambassador where KCST bagged both titles.
