KSU Partners with DOST-CAR and MIRDC in project AMERIAL to Advance Industrial Innovation in Cordillera October

October 1, 2023-The Department of Science and Technology – Cordillera Administrative Region (DOST-CAR), in partnership with the Metals Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC) and Kalinga State University, recently inaugurated the Advanced Mechatronics, Robotics, and Industrial Automation Laboratory (AMERIAL). This cutting-edge facility is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across the Cordillera region. With access to advanced technological resources, AMERIAL is designed to boost productivity, enhance product quality, and streamline operations, enabling local businesses to remain competitive and adaptable in an increasingly fast-paced industrial landscape.

Key contributors to AMERIAL’s development include KSU experts Dr. Ronald U. Wacas and Engineer Christian Louie B. Adora, who have served as consultants, guiding the lab’s vision and supporting its technological integration. In addition to strengthening MSMEs, AMERIAL is set to drive innovation in local industries by offering technologies such as automated irrigation systems for agriculture and micro-hydro power plants, extending benefits to both businesses and the broader community.

This project underscores KSU’s strong collaboration with government agencies to bring transformative technology to society. DOST Regional Director Nancy Bantog praised the initiative, calling it “the fruit of KSU and DOST’s advocacy in promoting technologies through research and development.” With AMERIAL, KSU becomes the second university in the Philippines affiliated with DOST-MIRDC, advancing local metals and engineering industries and positioning the Cordillera region as a hub for industrial innovation and growth.
