Kalinga State University (KSU), in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST – CAR), gathered local farmers of Rizal, Kalinga to the “Farmers’ Training on Mulberry Cultivation and Management” on October 5-6, 2023, at Rang-ay Eco-Adventure and Resort, Rizal, Kalinga. This is part of KSU's ongoing efforts to enhance the sericulture industry and sustain silk production in the province and throughout the region.
DAY 1 equipped participants with insight on mulberry cultivation, propagation, and management discussed by Mr. Diego S. Bulangen, Jr., Project Technical Assistant IV, DOST, PTR1-CAR. Lectures ended with the topic “Mulberry Death and Management,” and commenced with the actual mulberry propagation at 3pm onwards. It continued to Oct 6, with a field visit at Quezon, Isabela.
KSU continues to demonstrate its commitment to community development through educational programs that address local agricultural needs and promote sustainable practices. This aligns with broader initiatives by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and other stakeholders aimed at strengthening the silk industry in the Cordillera region.
