SUC Presidents met with DBM Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman

In photos: KSU President Eduardo T. Bagtang, along with other presidents of State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in Cordillera, met with Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman today, April 26, 2023, at Forest Lodge, Camp John Hay, Baguio City.

During the meeting CAR SUCs concerns were discussed. Pres. Bagtang requested for budget to complete the library Building of Kalinga State University. While President Eva Marie Dugyon, CARASUC Chairperson, presented the CAR SUCs concerns on allocating more capital outlay to the 6 SUCs and the deficit of the tuition fees released to SUCs in CAR.

Sec. Pangandaman took note of these and suggested ways to address the CAR SUCs concerns.

Meanwhile, through a phone call of Sen Legarda to Sec. Pangandaman and in loud speaker, she greeted the CAR SUCs presidents and appreciated them for working together as one.

Legarda encouraged CARSUCs officials to submit one regional project and institutional projects that would address the concerns of the Cordillera Administrative Region.

CHED-CAR Director Demetrio Anduyan Jr. was also requested to submit the concept paper of the MARCOS project which he initiated for the CAR-SUCs to implement.

The" Maximizing Agricultural Resources for Community Sustainability" (MARCOS) project is a community model farm for sustainable food production that locals can adopt. It is also an area for agricultural tourism and a hub for continuing research based on the principles of regenerative agriculture.

Also present during the meeting were: Dr Serafin Ngohayon former IFSU president who arranged for the meeting, Director Irene Gahid of DBM CAR, President Felipe Comila of BSU, Pres. Gregorio Turgueza of ASIST, President Edgar Cue of MPSPC, and President John Cabansag of ASC.
