UNDERSTANDING "ABSORPTIVE CAPACITY"
In February of this year, University President Dr. Eduardo T. Bagtang discussed the concept of absorptive capacity during our interview with him in our KSU Online Radio’s regular program on Talakayan sa Unibersidad, a topic further elaborated by the Vice President for Academics and Student Development, Dr. Marilou Adora. The public was informed of these discussions well.
To give you a background, The Special Provisions is applicable to SUCs contained in page 802 to 804 of the General Appropriations Act of FY 2024 states under No. 2. Free Higher Education for SUCs that the SUCs and CHED shall ensure that the implementation of this program pursuant to R. A. No. 10931 and its IRR.
On January 25, 2024, the CHED-CAR spearheaded the workshop on the absorptive capacity of the SUCs in CAR of which the faculty, classroom and allocated budget were considered.
The KSU’s final absorptive capacity considering the number of classrooms, number of faculty members and Free Higher Education budget for CY 2024 is 9003 students.
As of School Year 2023-2024, the University has an average of 8216 enrollees.
