Student leaders from various organizations at Kalinga State University - Dagupan Campus participated in the "Walk the Talk: Student Leaders Congress" leadership seminar-workshop, organized by the Supreme Student Council (SSC). The event took place on September 17, 2024, at the open gymnasium of the College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA). The participating clubs include Philippine Association of Students in Office Administration (PASOA), Junior Financial Executives (JFINEX), Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA), Junior Social Work Association of the Philippines (JSWAP), Political Science Society (PSS), Historical Society, Linguistic Society, Psyche Cognito Society, and Homo Kinetics Club (HKC), where they sent three to four representatives to attend said event. The initiative aims to provide the mentioned participants with an opportunity for face-to-face discussions, which will help improve their leadership abilities, teamwork, and interaction through a range of activities arranged by the organizers. Dr. James S. Guidangen, KSU-Dagupan Campus Administrator, formally opened the seminar workshop, while Hon. Chistopher Cubit, Central Student Government (CSG) and SSC President challenged the participants to embody the principles and characteristics of a true leader. Dagupan Campus Chairman for Student Development Services and Placement Services, Mr. Michael Saflor, discussed on the characteristics of good governance and leadership style and the SWOT analysis of student leaders. Meanwhile, the afternoon session was led by College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) senior faculty and former dean Atty. Johny Wayet, PhD, where he lectured on accountable leadership and taught the attendees the right way of resolution-making. It was notable that the two speakers both emphasized that “public office is a public trust”, a provision in Article XI of the 1987 Philippine Constitution. After the two lectures, they proceeded on the workshop, where each organization drafted a resolution based on the lecture, followed by a team-building activity where the attendees are challenged to build a paper cup tower using only straw string and a hook. The activity challenged the strategy-making and team-building ability of the students.
